I just watched the premiere of Southland, since Hulu has it available early.
My first impression is that it's going to be complex and gritty, but not too dark if you like cop shows. The dialogue seems pretty well written. I like that they portray the humanity of the cops.
I don't think it's going to make it on my own list of top shows I'll be watching this season for entertainment, but I do think it has potential. I'm curious to see what amount of cynicism it will communicate on an ongoing basis, so I might go back and watch more episodes once they're released.
